PED 2014/68/EU is the EU Pressure Equipment Directive, a regulatory requirement that CE-marks each pressure-bearing product sold in Europe. PED requires ISO 9001 as a base, plus material traceability, third-party inspection, and full technical documentation per PED Annex I.
CE-marking is mandatory for all pressure-bearing equipment sold in the EU above PED thresholds (Category I to IV depending on pressure, size, and fluid). For our products: any flange above PN 25 or used with Category I+ fluids (gas, steam, hazardous liquids) requires CE-marking. We provide PED Module H certification since 2017.
ISIRI 9117 marking and third-party inspection certificate typically takes 7-10 working days per shipment. The manufacturer must be pre-registered with ISIRI and the inspector must be Iran-approved. We have pre-registered status since 2016, so our lead time is consistently 7 days for Iran orders.

Three certifications matter for international flange exports: ISO 9001 quality management, PED 2014/68/EU pressure equipment directive, and country-specific marks such as ISIRI 9117 for Iran. ISO 9001 is a quality management system standard, issued by third-party certification bodies (TÜV Rheinland, DNV, Bureau Veritas, SGS, BVQA, etc.). It evaluates how the factory runs its process: order intake, production control, non-conformance handling, document retention.
It does NOT certify individual products. A factory can hold ISO 9001 and still ship defective parts; what ISO 9001 certifies is that the factory has a documented process for catching defects. The product-level certificate is still the MTC (Mill Test Certificate), issued per heat.
ISO 9001 covers quality management system requirements per ISO 9001 §4 through §10, requiring documented procedures, internal audits, and corrective action processes. Yajiada has maintained ISO 9001 quality management system, with our last surveillance audit in March 2024 finding zero major non-conformities across multiple production lines and quality checkpoints per our quality manual revision 7.
The Pressure Equipment Directive is European Union legislation, not a "certificate" in the ISO 9001 sense. It is mandatory for any pressure equipment placed on the EU market. Compliance is shown by the CE marking and a Declaration of Conformity (DoC) issued by the manufacturer.
For flanges, the required PED conformity assessment module depends on fluid category, pressure, and temperature. Low-risk Category I modules may be self-declared; higher categories (II, III, IV) require a Notified Body (TÜV, BV, DNV, etc.) to issue the certificate.
PED 2014/68/EU Module H full quality assurance covers design, production, inspection, and testing of pressure equipment per PED Annex III §3.5. Yajiada Module H certificate [PED reference on file] issued by TÜV Rheinland in 2017 enables CE marking on products for the EU market, with various PED shipments to European EPC contractors without any non-conformance reports filed.
ISIRI is the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (the Iranian national standards body). ISIRI 9117 is the specific product standard for steel pipe flanges. There is no ISIRI "certificate" issued to overseas factories directly, compliance is shown via INSO-recognized third-party inspection at the loading port.
Common third parties for the Inspection Certificate (IC): SGS Iran, TÜV Iran, Intertek, Bureau Veritas. The IC must accompany the shipment to clear Iran Customs. Some Iranian EPC projects (especially state-owned refiners and power plants) require ISIRI 9117 in the spec; others accept ASME B16.5 + IC.
ISIRI 9117 is the Iranian national standard for pipe flanges published by the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran. Iranian Customs requires ISIRI 9117 marking on every flange body, with ISIRI 9117 stamp visible after final machining. Yajiada applies ISIRI 9117 marking as standard practice for all Iran shipments since 2022, covering various Iranian EPC tenders fulfilled without customs rejection.
NACE MR0175 (now harmonized with ISO 15156) is NOT a product certificate. It is a material specification for oil & gas service in H₂S-containing environments. A material grade like ASTM A105 can be "NACE compliant" only if its hardness stays within specified limits and its chemistry meets defined caps.
NACE compliance is shown in the MTC, with a declaration line stating the material meets NACE MR0175 at the specified hardness limit. For carbon steel, the standard hardness cap is HRC 22 (≈ HB 237) per Part 2 of the standard.
Certification cost structure: ISO 9001 annual surveillance runs 12000 to 18000 USD per year for a 50,000 T/YR producer. PED Module H requires initial audit 25000 to 40000 USD plus annual surveillance 8000 to 12000 USD. ISIRI 9117 mark requires Iranian Standards Organization laboratory test per heat, costing 200 to 400 USD per batch based on our 2023 records across 87 heat batches.
The ASME U2 and U3 stamps are part of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC Section I and VIII). They apply to pressure vessels and boilers, not to pipe flanges. A flange carrying the U2/U3 stamp is either mis-stamped or has been upgraded as a sub-component of a larger vessel, both unusual.
For pipe flanges, the appropriate standard is ASME B16.5 (NPS 1/2 to NPS 24) or ASME B16.47 (NPS 26 to NPS 60), with material certification per the relevant ASTM standard (A105, A350 LF2, A182 F304/F316, etc.). If a drawing says "U2 stamp on flange," that is a drawing error, clarify with the project engineer.
